Jane is committed to the Marble Institute, a psychiatric facility. There, she is treated conventionally. Seeing that the treatments fail, Dr. Hansen, a psychiatrist, proposes an experimental protocol designed for her condition. The new medications fail too. However, following a brutal shock therapy session, Jane escapes, genuinely believing she has unlocked real superpowers. The trauma causes her to develop a paranoid, cruel split personality that reframes the hospital staff as dangerous supervillains. To stop their imagined reign of terror, a diferent Avenging Star will rise from the ashes.
